The Directors of Trekka Imports Pty Ltd, Rod and April Cassidy, would like to welcome you to our web-site and at the same time, share with you some of the background to Trekka and how the Company evolved. April and Rod both "had a life" before Trekka started in 1987. April was a Lecturer in the Fine Arts Faculty at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) from 1971. It was at this time that April began her overseas travelling. Rod trained as a Secondary School Art Teacher and spent his last five years with the Queensland Education Department as Principal of Helensvale State High School on the Queensland Gold Coast. Both had travelled extensively before Trekka Imports was founded. In 1985, a gift shop project in Brisbane called 'Crossroads Bazaar' was started. The store specialized in unusual gifts and decor. Frustrated by the lack of stock available to purchase for the store on the wholesale market, (and knowing what was 'out there' from their travelling) they sold the business and founded Trekka Imports in 1987.Trekka celebrates its 23rd year of Trading in 2010!

Now, Rod and April source products from many countries and seek out the 'unusual' and spectacular for the Australian retail and decorator market. We have a container arriving each week from countries as diverse and interesting as Greece, Turkey, France and India.

Trekka's unique range of giftware offers many pieces designed by Rod or April and manufactured in Turkey or India. They draw on their art training and background and apply these skills to the development of new and original products.

Rod and April also share a life long love of antiques and they are ardent collectors. The broad range of antiques in Trekka's stock profile offers rare collectables including horse carts, old doors, columns and architectural pieces, statuary, urns and furniture.
